Ever find yourself fantasizing about livin’ the good life on a lovely island? Sippin’ frosty cool ones with sand between your toes and the shimmer of sunset in your eyes? Back when I was still hunting and pecking my way along my career path, I recall saying a time or two, “Sometimes I just want to pack it up and go sell sunscreen and towels in a tiki hut on the beach”.
Well my delicious new online friend Kuanyin, lives, works and plays in beautiful Maui. On her Who’s Yo Mama blog, she recently shared Maui’s need for more people to work on the island paradise. So if you’ve ever had the desire to pack it up and head to Hawaii, it appears there is no time like the present.
That gets me thinking about career fantasies and how we can turn them into reality. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always said, “I’m a writer. One day I’m gonna get paid to write, and I’m gonna write a book”. And the time has come where I am aligning myself with those dreams.
Where did the shift take place? When I committed to taking ACTION. I’ve talked about action being the key ingredient in making any dream a reality before, but I gotta re-emphasize it again. If you want something. Anything. You’ve got to step up to the plate and swing that bat. Fantasy is fiction. Be brave and bold and take those baby steps toward your goal. Whatever that may be.
How do you do it?
1)Get REALLY clear about what you DO want.
2)STOP talking about and doing what you DONT want.
3)Write it down. Full out and as detailed as possible. Sounds, smells, tastes, feelings, emotions, sensations, colors, how do you FEEL in that new place?
4)Affirm it in the PRESENT. Ex. “I AM joyously celebrating being a published writer”. And so it IS. Just BE it. Don’t question why NOT. Just FEEL that you are it, already, like NOW!
5)Release your attachment to the HOW. Focus on the end result, but not HOW you’ll get there. That’s where the magical universe has a grander plan for you than you can imagine for yourself.
6)Wait. Wait for the signs, messages, people, places and experiences to show up and point you one step closer to where you want to go. Sweet synchronicities will suddenly appear from out of the blue.
7)Get an attitude of GRATITUDE. Say thank you for what you desire BEFORE it actually arrives on your doorstep. Gratitude is the single fastest way to increase momentum and positive flow. Promise. Try it and see.
8)Celebrate its arrival. When the signs, syncs and people start showing up…celebrate! Recognize that you have just co-created your own reality and rejoice!
Ok, gotta scat kids…you know the KK is a busy gal these days!!
Be well and much love,
kk
As it is the first day of classes back at LU, (where I teach and work in Academic Services) I’m gonna cheat a bit and include my Daily Om in my post. I’m up early. Walked the dogs. Did some super ab crunches and yoga stretches. And I’m revved up and ready to go!
So often I want for the days when my business, PMP is my full-time gig. Yet, I recognize this morning as I read this, that I am living my passion and serving my purpose each day. My academic liaison position allows me to BE the “coach” keeping my cool in the heat of any student, faculty, staff or parent issue that arises. Helping people to seek solid solutions and reframe strategies for better communications. (Not to mention the fabulous students I get to facilitate classes for).
I love the first week of the fall semester. The anticipation of the possibilities that are a new year. A fresh clean slate. New faces. New dreams. New joys and new challenges. It’s only fitting that I woke up to find my Daily Om right in sync with where I am. The Universe has a much grander plan than I can even imagine for myself right now. And when I get a sign like this one, I gladly recognize and accept that fact.
So I share this with you now…

Inspire With Your Passion
Aries Daily Horoscope
You could notice the impact your influence has on others today, which might be the result of your ability to connect with and express your passion for life and the things you believe in. Perhaps today you may want to become aware of your passions more directly by reflecting on what inspires you. Consider making a list of all the interests in your life that you feel you cannot do without—things that delight you and spark your imagination.
Choose one thing that speaks to you the most, and think about how you could integrate this into your life. If your passion is helping others, for example, you might decide to do volunteer work once a week. You may find that by living through your passion, not only are others drawn to your charisma but you are also more closely aligned with your higher self.
Understanding what inspires us allows us to live truthfully and in a way that motivates those around us. Becoming aware of the things that feed our souls lets us access an unlimited source of energy, which positively affects everything we do. Our lives are fed through our connection to these deeper levels of our being as we begin to radiate warmth, happiness, and abundance. Our resulting actions will then encourage others to live in this way as well. By living according to your passions today, the truth behind your actions will have a lasting impact on your life and the lives of those around you.
What are you passionately pursuing today?
Peace and first day jitters,
kam
While surfing the great wide blog-o-sphere and beyond, I came across Whitney + Heather’s Rookie Mom’s blog and the post “Change your radio station to one you can’t understand”. Whitney + Heather agree that parents should play music of other languages to their babies. They recommend Manu Chao’s Proxima Estación: Esperanza (I dig Manu Chao too).
But you don’t have to have kiddos to change the station and inject some fresh flavor into your listening environment. I often listen to music in other languages and it sparks my creativity. I wonder what’s being said. I wonder how these saucy musicians met. I wonder if they live lives as sexy as their music sounds. Listening this way allows me to FEEL the music in ways that I can’t when I understand what is being said.
Belbel Gilberto’s sultry and sexy Portuguese on Tanto Tempo, is breezy and beautiful. Her voice blends sweetly with the bassanova melodies making ME feel like the Girl from Ipenema! Another fav of mine is 8 1/2 Souvenir’s Happy Feet, with tracks in Italian, French and English.
Why shake up your mundane musical mix? Because adding some international flair is another way of opening up your soul. Spirit speaks its own language. It’s more subtle and endearing than the language of words. Spirit speaks in symbols and synchronicities. Dreams, daydreams, journaling, doodling, painting, scrap booking (or collaging as I do), playing in the sand, coloring, visiting an art gallery, walking in the park, being in nature, listening to soul-ful music, all are ways to access and nurture your spirit.
Why not hop on iTunes, peruse your favorite local independent music joint, or pop on a set of headphones at Borders and begin investigating a lil’ flavor and funk? Open up your ears. Open up your eyes. Open up your heart, your soul, your mind. Sit back and relax. Or get up and rumba. Whateva’s cleva ya’ll. Just move! Be inspired. Live it up.
What music stirs your soul?
Lil’ bit funky, lil’ bit Rock & Roll,
K-to-the-K
Today was a weird day. Found out a friend of a friend just passed away. She was a new friend of mine, but I loved her spirit nonetheless. Misty was a true original. She was full of love and life and passion. She had decided to quit her day gig last Jan. because it just didn’t fit who she was. She was an artistic soul; the kind of person that see’s beauty in little things, where others might not.
We had gotten to know each other last year on a camping trip over Halloween weekend. We’d only met one other time, but we connected instantly, and she encouraged me to start my business and loved talking with me about it. She was one of the first people to call me “Coach”. On our trip she asked me for advice about finding her “Mr. Right”, but admitted she was having fun with “Mr. Right Now”. Shortly after, she did meet her Mr. Right. Sometime after the 1st of the year (Just as her and Mr. Right were getting hot and heavy) she got what she thought was a bad case of the flu. After a couple of weeks she went to the doctor, and it was Leukemia.
Misty fought it through one round of chemo. I even just saw her earlier this summer at a Cardinal baseball game. She was really thin, and wore a cool scarf on her head, but she was kickin’ it with her friends and supporting her STL Cards. (And yes, Mr. Right stood by her side.)
I got kinda funky today when I heard the news. But then I got to thinking how much Misty loved life. And that she probably lived a fuller, richer 31 years on this planet than a lot of people I know. She laughed a lot. Played a lot. Lived life on her terms. Right up until the end. So I want to thank Misty for being a great model for living and for owning her unique-ness. Expressing her self in her way. Never taking no for an answer and being bold and courageous as she wrestled with this illness.
I am trying to focus on her strength, her passion, and her love of life. I don’t want to feel bad. I don’t want to feel funky. Cuz this was just another reminder that life is precious. Life is short. Our job is to LIVE it UP! BE who we are. Love one another. Play full out. Live out loud. Be bold. Be bad ass. Take risks. Focus on what we want. And let the rest GO. Misty’s life was a beautiful celebration of passion and purpose.
Thank you Misty - for your light, your love, and your inspiration…

Woke up extra early (7 am on a Sunday…what’s up with that?) took the dogs out and couldn’t fall back to sleep so started my day. Checked e-mail and wrote for a couple of hours. Sent a text to Connie to see if she was up for breakfast and a walk. She called me back, and at 9:30 headed down to Crooked Tree Coffeehouse. Ate a yummy breakfast quesadilla, and headed down to Main Street for a stroll. It’s the Festival of the Little Hills, so TONS of people were already out perusing the crafty, woodcarving, and kettle korn booths. Connie bought a cutie dog collar for her Chihuahua Athena and I left empty-handed.
We parted ways, I came home and walked the dogs again, sent a few more e-mails and then she and I decided to meet up for the $3 show (formerly the $1 show – inflation sux!). Went to see The Lake House starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. OK, I know…sappy but it’s the cheap-y show and it’s Sunday. Now if you’ve been following along with the PMP blogs, you know I can be a little “woo-woo” and dig some far out, trippy, off the beaten path stuff. I even dig stuff about reality shifts and time tripping…but this one didn’t make the cut for me.
Didn’t love the film, but I am a romantic, so it did get me thinking about “waiting” for the “one”. Waiting was a reoccurring theme in this movie. She was waiting, then he was waiting, then they were both waiting…a lot of waiting took place. I can relate to this. I often find myself wanting to speed up time in my own life. Be it my future book deal, my future business empire, my future career as a rock-star (OK, that’s pushing it) or my future love.
True to my Aries nature, I get frustrated when I want something and can’t instantly get it. (Altho I have been manifesting in record time these days). Example - I’ve gotta wait and keep working my full-time day gig to pay the bills as I grow MY biz. I’ve gotta wait to get new floors for the condo, till I get said money from the biz to pay for them. I’ve gotta wait to meet my love until the Universe puts us in each other’s paths.
I KNOW that we will meet when it is the RIGHT time. Not when I think it’s best (which would be like yesterday). Cuz I only know what I can see. I don’t know the bigger picture that my limited vision keeps me from seeing. I trust and believe that God/Universe/Spirit has a grand and glorious plan for me, and that includes me being open to the sweet synchronicities that flow my way everyday. To be an open channel for the messages that flow thru my words and onto the page and into the blogosphere and beyond.
My job is to keep on keepin’ on and stay true to my path. To keep following the yellow brick road I mentioned below. I have NO idea at this point just how Divine our meeting might be. At this point, I might not be ready for the super-size relationship Divinity has planned for me. Or perhaps HE might not be ready yet. And so we wait.
When I get anxious or antsy or just plain frustrated, I need to remember that timing is everything. And if it’s my job to wait right now, then so be it. I’ll accept that my mission is to just BE. BE me. Be love. Be light. Be fun. Be joy. Be open. Be ready. Cuz it’s all gonna fall into place in Divine right timing. And that’s worth waiting for!
Live Love,
kam
Alright. I’m so exhausted I think I just drooled on my keyboard. But I can’t fight the muse when he/she/it/they come a knockin’. Life is moving at the speed of life for double K these days. What gets me so pumped up is that when you give up control – the Universe/God/Spirit (call it what you will) ALWAYS has a bigger plan than you have for yourself.
I’m diggin’ on the fact that spirit is my guide. My higher self is my wing-woman. My inner-child is tap dancing on my heartstrings. And I am co-creating all this magic in tandem with the Universe. I’m tuning into the one universal energy source that we are all connected to. You know why I am almost effortlessly moving from A to B to Oprah? Because I am doing the following:
· Getting clear about what I REALY want - FOCUS
· Setting my intention daily & through affirmations…I AM (insert intention here)
· Releasing my intention to the Universe/God/Spirit
· Letting go of my need to control the HOW I will get “it”
· Saying thank you (all day long and especially before I go to bed each night)
· Enjoying the PRESENT moment and BEing here now
· Spreading the love and connecting to friends, family, strangers (are they really?), people I pass on the street, teller at the bank, checker at the store, etc…
· Re-orienting around my VALUES (truth, beauty, love, spirit) if it ain’t inline with those four words…Kammie don’t play that
· Live from integrity BE who I want to BE, not just talk about it…streamline & simplify
I am so grateful for the love and support that surrounds me. I have THE absolute BEST family and friends, coolest collaborators, and DSL connection to my intuition. I feel nurtured and supported and never had the notion that creating a business, designing a life or fulfilling my dreams would be so beautiful, blessed, abundant or flow-y.
I literally follow my own yellow-brick road as it continues to unfold in front of me. One brick at a time. One shiny-red, ruby slipper in front of the other. Diggin’ on rainy-day rainbow kinda days and seeing through those wicked witches as the fearful, frightened HUMAN beings that they really are.
What inspired action steps are you taking to follow your own yellow brick road? What tools would you need to get on track? What could you do today to step more fully into YOU?
Peace and when you wish upon a star,
Kam
Following up on a thread of thought spurred on by my good friend Pam at Make the Most of U. She recently asked the question, “Do you care what you think?” Her post was an inquiry into placing too much weight on what other people think of you. Cuz let’s face it - the only person that really matters is YOU. So what do you think about you?
I tend to hear or read something and then float into a random stream of consciousness something like this: what do I think about me? Who do I think I am? I am bold, happy, positive, fiery, sassy, ambitious, driven, courageous and scared - but more afraid of NOT going for “it” - whatever it might be on any given day - kooky, goofy, funny, silly - will they think I’m “too” much? Will they “get me”? Will my words resonate with many or few? Do I care? Isn’t it more important to reach a few who get it rather than many that don’t?
THE coolest people who DO get it have been showing up on my virtual doorstep almost daily. Hell, some have even been showing up in my “real life” too. Life is good. Who cares what the naysayers say. Connie calls them “naysayers and boo-bears”, I call ‘em nasty. Don’t try to rain on my parade. No stealing my thunder. Go out there and create your own. If you got a case of the green meanies from looking over at what I got, then go out and create some goodness of your own. Donna calls ‘em haters. She says there are always haters along the way. She loves scripture. I wish I new the one she says about haters. It’s profound.
And so on and so on and so on it goes. Back to the topic of what do you think about you? Better yet - let’s shift into “What do you LOVE about you”? Let’s celebrate today with some self-love. You know I love Jason Mraz and he says “You gotta have it your way with yourself”…OK, we KNOW he’s talking about the other kind of self-love, but who cares!
Which way do you wanna have it? Are you choosing self-love or self-hate? Are you choosing to shine your light or hide it under a basket? Are you choosing to adore and nourish your mind, body and spirit? Or are you choosing to retreat back down “Nega-mojo Lane”? Meaning falling into negative thoughts, behaviors or actions. Maybe not negative, maybe just thoughts, behaviors or actions that are no longer inline with the new you? Or the you you aspire to be. What does that you look like? What does “you 2.0” feel like? Sound like? Dress like? Work like? Love like? Play like?
Let’s celebrate our uniqueness and kick the critique’s ass! Who said we had to look like this and talk like that? Who said we had to follow this path or marry this mate or pursue this career path? If you are still dancing to the beat of someone else’s drum, it’s time for an intervention. Get over it. Create your own soundtrack. You a little bit country? Cool. Or a little bit rock-n-roll? Bad-ass. You dig hip-hop or smooth jazz or bayou blues or rockabilly? Sweet. Just dance the dance you create. Shake yo thang in ALL its fine glory. Don’t play small. Think BIG. Don’t hide in the corner. Be BOLD. Don’t shy away from your fans. Stand up and revel in the applause. It’s your big life…drink it up!
Live BIG. Live juicy. Live passionately.
All fired up,
kam-a-licious
Woke up this morning and heard the news about the terrorist plot to bomb flights out of London to U.S. Was a little freaked out because my dad was just there a couple of weeks ago and is supposed to be headed there again soon (I’ll have to talk to him about that!).
I don’t watch the news much these days as it can send me into a funk. I’m highly sensitive and can pick up on the negative energy rather quickly (and Kam don’t like nega-mojo). So there I am driving to work pondering where my dad is right now and if he is indeed leaving for London soon, and I look up to see the most amazing sight.
Today finds us on a party-sunny (or partly-cloudy depending on your outlook) day. So the clouds were mixed up just right as the sun was streaming through the clouds, and I swear to you…there was an angel with a wingspan you could build an island in the sky on. The sun rays were streaming out of the bottom and there was a little space right where the heart would be where the sun was peeking out as well. It really did look like those angels that sit atop Christmas trees. A head, wings spread out, and a bell shaped bottom.
Funny how a little inspiration can go a long way. I immediately felt lighter and had the sense that everything was going to be alright. It can be easy to get stuck in a downward spiral when the scary thoughts start to supersede. But that vision above me was like a light switch and it flipped my whole mood around. Suddenly I was full of love and peace and hope.
That sent me on the thought train of “where do we find inspiration”? I find it in all sorts of random places. Margo Kahnrose’s, who blogs at Of Fish and Family, finds a LOT of inspiration from her kids. She wrote the funniest “poop” post about her son flushing before the smell leaked out. I laughed out loud! Potty stories never get old do they?
So dearest darlings – where do you find inspiration? In nature? While walking? Running? Riding your bike? People watching at the park? Playing with your pets? At an art gallery? Listening to music? Reading a good book? Watching an inspired speaker? Take some time today and BE inspired. Really let the feeling of joy spread through you as the power and energy of a moment captures your heart, stimulates your mind and moves your spirit. I saw an angel today. What do you see?
Peace and she talks to angels,
Kam
I gotta say…WOW! Not sure if it’s my mantra of late - “I’m in love with the Universe and the Universe is in love with me” – or what, but Kammie-land has been overflowing with abundance and love the last couple of weeks. In more ways than one!
Recently shared with you that I am co-authoring over at Small Business Branding. Can you say…Love-fest? I had no idea that so many people would find value in my first post. Which essentially, was an introduction about me and a little bit about the soul of a brand and authenticity in business. I just want to thank all the cool people that left me a comment and shared their appreciation for my writing, my brand and me! I hope I can live up to their expectations of more passionate and purpose driven branding articles.
Secondly…Reese, the world’s greatest intuitive web designer - has been sharing in the love-fest as well. Not only did she leave me some kudos over at SBB, but also she left me a beautiful comment here at the PMP blog and posted an awesome article about me/PMP along with another of her clients on her blog.
The Love-fest has also brought me, JT Chandler, Kirsten at ipopin.com, and Wendy Piersall from emomsathome.com along with her blogjolt! Crew, and like I said – all my new friends or soon to be friends at SBB.
Not to mention that in the last couple of weeks, the romantic forecast has been calling for fun, hot-ness, intriguing possibilities and did I mention, fun? Have met a couple of really interesting people as of late, as well as everyone and their mother (no wait…that was MY father) trying to fix me up with someone they know. Where is all this love coming from?
“We don’t attract what we want, we attract what we are”. If that is true, then I am truth, beauty, love and spirit in motion. Hey wait a sec…those are my four core values! Yep. Those are the four words I chose as my core values one year ago. I decided that I wanted to live a life of integrity. That meant BEing who I wanted to be. That also meant to stop DOing things that weren’t supporting those values.
And look. Just one year later and everything I said I wanted is showing up at my door. I asked for peace, passion, clarity and abundance. Check! I said I wanted an outlet for creativity and a way to release my writing to the world. Umm, you’re reading this, therefore, another check please. I said I wanted to start a business that would support my desire to help other people find more joy, passion and purpose in life. I wanted to help people wake up and stop sleepwalking. I wanted to learn how to use the powerful tools of changing your mind to change your life, the Law of Attraction and coaching concepts to then share those tools with anyone and everyone who “gets it”. Can I get an AMEN!? Check, check and check.
Whew! Excuse me for my rant, I just feel SO blessed. Life is good. All the time. 24/7, 365!
What’s good in your world today? What’s ONE thing you are grateful for today?
Doctor Love a.k.a,
Kam-a-lic-ious
Just wanted to share the latest PMP business happenings. I recently sent an e-mail to Yaro Starak, over at Small Business Branding. He was looking for a couple of bloggers to add to the mix, so he doesn’t have to do all the writing himself. I was intrigued with the idea, as it will allow me to spread my writing wings and fly in another direction.
I’d almost forgotten about it – quite honestly, I wasn’t sure my writing style was what he’d be looking to add into a business marketing blog. But alas, one week later, I received an e-mail from him asking if I’d like to play along. But of course! I feel honored for the nod and the opportunity to share some insights over with his readers.
So today you’ll find my introductory post at the SBB blog. I’m really looking forward to stretching and growing as I rack my brain, scour the blogosphere, and let spirit guide me to the latest and greatest Small Business Branding info I can conjure up. I hope to help inspire even more people to dig deep, plant seeds, take action and build their small businesses with integrity, value-added and socially conscious awareness.
If you are a small business owner, or thinking of starting one, you should definitely check out SBB. Yaro’s got it loaded with TONS of info to get your creative juices flowing, your marketing wheels spinning and your business building inclinations from fantasy to reality!
What step could you take today, to move closer to creating the business of your dreams?
Peace & prosperity,
Kam
Morning PMP’ers! Just wanted to share something I found over at Solutions For Busy Moms. Don’t jump to conclusions, I’m NOT prego…just found a great article about the A-Z’s of organization. Sarah Zeldman shares an article by Maria Gracia at Get Organized Now! - even us non-mommies can benefit from.
I won’t go thru the whole list, but a few of my faves are:
* B: BREAK IT DOWN - Anything you have to do is
easier, if you break it down into manageable parts.
* E: ELIMINATE - Get rid of clutter--both physical
and mental. You’ll breathe easier and feel a sense
of freedom.
* Q: QUALITY, NOT QUANTITY - It is much better to
have a few treasures that you love and enjoy,
rather than having lots of things you don’t
particularly care for. Always think quality, over
quantity, and you’ll simplify your life. Of course,
this doesn’t apply to money!
* V: VISUALIZE - Picture how wonderful your life is
going to be when you’re organized. Then strive to
put yourself in that picture every day.
* W: WRITE IT DOWN - Don’t try to keep everything
you have to remember in your head. Simply write it
down and refer to it when needed.
If those aren’t some of the very same principles I’ve been applying to my own life, I don’t know what is! Take these juicy tid-bits and work them into your own life. I’m a BIG fan of cleaning your closet, cleaning your life. My motto for this year is “streamline and simplify”, and this is just more validation that I’m tracking right on target.
When we clean our literal “junk” we also begin to clean up our figurative “junk”. By creating more physical space in our homes, we open up more space in our hearts, minds and spirits. Who couldn’t use more room for the good stuff (or another pair of sassy strappy sandals?)
What can you clear out today to make room for tomorrow?
So fresh & so clean,
Kam
What is it about Tuesday nights and Rock Star Supernova that gets me so pumped up? It’s not that these are THE most talented musicians that ever walked the planet. Some of them are good. Some are REALLY good. A couple are GREAT.
What gets me goin’ is the fact that they are putting themselves “out there” and letting it all hang out. These future rock wannabe’s are raw. Vulnerable. Real. Energetic and passionate. They GET it!
Being that my business is called Passion Meets Purpose, I often get asked, “How do you know what your passion is?” I’ve addressed it before. And I’ll address it again. Our ONLY purpose in this world is to live passionately. Do what you love. It doesn’t matter if anybody else “gets it”. It doesn’t matter if anybody else likes it. It doesn’t matter if it’s the popular thing to do.
What gets your motor going? What keeps you up at night and can get your ass out of bed at 4 in the morning? My friend Joe actually gets up that early cuz it’s the only time he can find privacy to write! (I get up around 5, but 4 seems certifiable).
Do you like knitting? GO knit! Do you like baking cookies? Mrs. Fields created an entire freakin’ cookie EMPIRE around it. Are you crafty? Maybe you’re the next Martha Stewart. Are you the scrappiest scrapper on your block? Hello…have you seen the big business that is scrap booking? Turn your hobby into a business.
You like cooking? Check out Rachel Ray or Emeril or the Take Home Chef. Do you crochet doilies and mittens for your kitty? Who cares if people don’t think you’re cool. If you dig it…if your heart opens up and your head feels lighter and your day seems brighter…DO it!
As you step into your own unique talents, doors begin to magically open up before you. Doors you never even knew existed. Opportunities present themselves to you as if by magic. I’m not kidding. My life and the lives of my clients are proof.
Your ONLY mission is to have the time of your life! To LIVE and LOVE and FEEL. That’s why I dig watching live music so much. I can FEEL the energy, the passion, the raw, real, gritty emotion that these musicians have. It’s like Tommy Lee said tonight. When he gets up there and is doing his thing on the drums, it’s like he’s in another world…almost like a trance. Otherwise know as the zone. Also referred to as the FLOW. When you’re tuned-in and turned on, you’re co-creating magic with the Divine.
It’s like great sex. When that connection is so magnetic, so energetic, so organic and raw - you have no concept of time. You just ARE. You’re floating. You’re drifting on that super-highway of ethereal energy. Riding the waves of the eternal Divine source that is God, the Universe, Spirit – call it what you will. When you’re in it, you know it. And it feels G-double-O-D. Can you dig?
What can you do today to tune into your unique gifts? What lights you up from the inside out?
Rock on,
kam
Summer does funny things to me. I can’t help it. I return back to days when I’d hang from noon till 6 at the Carrollton pool with my bathing-beauty, goddess girlfriends. Modeling funny, wet-hair mo-hawks or displaying back dives and side dives off the deep end, vying for the attention of the lifeguards with our pre-teen mad swimming skills.
It’s hot. Kids are off school. Backyard BBQ’s and pool parties prevail. The heat just DOES something to me. It makes me frisky. It makes me energetic. It makes me want to play. It also makes me lethargic and lazy.
I’ve been wondering if I’m “slipping” a little bit. What do I mean? Well, I’ve got loads of things to DO. I know - I’m a BE’er not a DO’er right? But hey…who else is gonna come and check things off my list? Who else is gonna take PMP to the next level?
I find myself on the teeter-totter. I must share, this time last year, I felt like I was at one end of the teeter (or is it totter?). Then about 6 months ago, I felt I’d hopped on over to the other side. The pendulum had swung ALL the way over.
Now I find myself somewhere in the middle. Not sitting on either side, but standing tall - leaning back and forth form one side to the other. Testing my stretching and flexibility skills. I’m definitely having more fun playing the balancing act.
It seems when we’re living at one extreme, we naturally then pull back and explore the opposite option. How else do we discover where our boundaries lie? How else can we sample both dark and light? What if Forrest Gump was right? What if life is like a box of chocolates?
Isn’t it better to have sampled the many flavors and shades? Sometimes we get a surprise and ooey-gooey cherry filling oozes tempting our tongues. Or we find a bumpy-turtle filling. Others are smooth and rich with creamy milk chocolate. And sometimes we get that funky…what’s it called – nugit – nasty filling. Life hands us as many flavors and colors of chocolate as there are colors in the rainbow.
So I won’t be too hard on myself. I won’t get pissed if I have a hazy-lazy day and need to pull back from the world and the work a bit. It’ll all unfold as it’s designed to. I’ve got a vision. I’ve got a mission. I’ve got the support of amazing family and friends. The Universe in all it’s divine glory has got my back.
I’ll be like the kids. I’ll give myself these last couple of weeks. I’ll let myself play. I’ll take more naps. I’ll be a bathing beauty. I’ll anticipate back to school season. And savor the big picture and not fret over the tiny details. Not yet. Just a couple more weeks. Then I’ll “buckle down”. I’ll shift back into the school season and learning and teaching and giving and receiving. I’m scheduled to teach two classes this fall as well as my full-time administrative duties and building the PMP Empire. So my fall looks BUSY! But it’s ALL good stuff people…good stuff. I love my life and right now, on this hot and hazy 100+ degree day, I’m gonna take it one hot minute at a time!
Which end of the totter are you on? How might you seek more balance today?
