It’s another scorcher in the STL folks! Too HOTT!! Got up early yesterday morning and walked the dogs (best damn FREE therapy on the planet if you ask me!). I’ve told you how much I love walking with the D-O-G’s in the early morn. It’s all about the birds chirping, the locusts rattling like snakes, the sun coming up, the wet grass under my feet and watching the dogs fall into utter ecstasy as they sniff out their furry friends secret messages along trees, fire hydrants, curbsides and telephone poles.
Came inside and hopped on the computer and what did I see? Sweet Kirsten Harrell wrote a post about me! If you’re curious what she had to say about PMP and me - check it! I let my newsletter readers in on what Kirsten and her sister are doing over at iPopin.com. To put it quite simply…they are genius! They’ve created a series of affirmations set to cool tunes and it’s all downloadable to your iPod. If you’re like me and behind the times (yes, I am embarrassed to admit…I still don’t own an iPod), then you can get them on CD.
I listened to “Wealthy”, a series of 10 affirmations like, “I am healthy, wealthy and wise”, “I am connected to the unlimited abundance of the Universe” and “I am overflowing with gratitude for all that I have”. Good stuff, so run right on over and check it out for yourself. And it’s fun to read Kirsten blog about everything from having breakfast with a bunny to the infinite wisdom of nature.
On a personal note, I have been using this affirmation - “I’m in love with the Universe and the Universe is in love with me”. WOW! This stuff works people. Went out and had the most fun with my friend Connie last night. It was another one of those nights where everything just flowed. And we were like MAGNETS!! Yes, we both felt a bit like Scarlet O’Hara. The flirting was non-stop. And I can’t begin to tell you all the amazing business and blogging connections that have arrived on my virtual doorstep in the last month since I’ve started saying it.
So if you’re shy about using affirmations, don’t be. Just grab some note cards, write them on post-it notes and stick ‘em on the fridge, use dry erase markers on your bathroom mirrors (like I do) or grab some downloads from iPopin.com. Either way, what have you got to lose? Who couldn’t use more health, wealth or wisdom…or even a little harmless flirting?
What goodness do YOU want to attract?
I AM a money magnet,
Kammie K.
Finally saw the BIG movie The Secret. Here’s the basics for those that haven’t heard of it, nor have any idea what I’m talking about…It was hyped on the internet as the revealing “The Great Secret of the Universe” that you could only watch by downloading from their website or purchasing it on DVD. It never hit the theaters for those of you out of the loop on this one.
The jist of the movie? Features the top players in the Universal Law of Attraction business. Jack Canfield, Bob Proctor, Joe Vitale, Esther Hicks, and the likes. For those of you that follow my blog, you are already aware of the ULOA. Essentially the whole “like attracts like”, we’re all magnets type thing. Which are principles I have been playing with a lot for the past year. And I gotta say – this stuff works.
Some are bashing it as a slick marketing campaign and I’ll give ‘em that. The Laws of Attraction haven’t been a big secret. But I do believe there is a major benefit to the movie getting out there and into as many hands as possible. For many people out there, life is a series of events that just “happens to them”. They are stuck. They are coming from a victim mentality. “He did this to me”, “She did that to me”, “My boss yelled at me”, “My spouse is mean to me”…etc., etc.
The beauty of The Secret, is that it features a variety of different personal development, self-help, and quantum physicists - so if Esther Hicks doesn’t resonate with you, perhaps Jack Canfield does. Then they show you a series of “examples” of using these laws and how they unfold in your life.
I say any film that can open people up to the idea that they are the co-creators of their own reality is a good thing. Was it earth shattering info for me? Not necessarily. But I have been reading many of those “teachers” books for several years now. So go watch the movie. Or shake your booty on down to the local library. Or your nearest metaphysical bookstore. Or search on Amazon. Or visit my resources page.
However you like your wisdom - book, CD, mp3 download – explore. Research. Ask questions…LOTS of them. Find a mentor. Talk with a minister. Work with a coach. Find someone whose life YOU admire and ask them how they attracted what they have in their life. It’s ALL the same stuff. It’s ALL good!
Peace and happy attracting,
Kam
ps…check out the smart-ass remark I left over at Andy Wibbels blog regarding the subject! Hee hee
“Find out who you are and do it on purpose.” Dolly Parton
I have a new addiction. Being a coach, I’m not supposed to have those. I should have cleaned all that up by now. But let’s face it - I’m human! I’m hooked on Rock Star Supernova. Dave Navarro - too sexy. Brooke Burke – let’s all say it…smokin’ hot! And the Rock Star wannabe’s…just plain cool. What I love most about watching this show is that uniqueness separates those that shimmer from those that shine.
Take Dilana for example. She has crazy, wild streaked hair, funky clothes and piercing all over the place…yet she does stand out as a true original. Week after week, she continues to show up, 150% alive, fully loaded and outrageously original.
Vs. someone like Jill G., who has great pipes, but uses her sexuality to light up the audience when she really doesn’t need to play the sex card. Or Phil Ritchie, who has a cool voice, but the “shtick” with the head bobble and intense laser-like-suck-your-soul-out staring, seems to be trying a bit too hard.
I’m most turned on by the artisits that are just plain FEELIN’ it. Even if their style isn’t exactly what the band is looking for, they continue to show up raw, authentic and UNIQUE.
But being unique is ballsy. I too am just beginning to blossom into my own unique flower. I mean, if you ask friends who’ve known me forever, they’ll tell you I’ve always been an original. But I haven’t always FELT comfortable in my own skin. However, the more layers I continue to peel and strip away from this blond-haired, blue-eyed onion named Kam…the more at peace I am feeling in reveling in my own uniqueness.
A great mentor sat me down for a pretty stern talking to about 6 months ago. She really railed into me about using my own unique voice and staying true to my own intellectual property. At the time, I was a bit taken aback. But as I continue to refine, tweak and edit ME – my true voice becomes stronger and clearer and more genuine. So I thank her. Her delivery may have bruised a bit, but her message got through loud and clear.
We are all unique, beautiful, and magnificent extensions of the greatest source in the Universe. Let’s do our work to be the BEST version of OURSELVES. Not pretend to be a half-ass version of someone else. We never do them as good as they do themselves anyways. So GO! BE YOU! Be it beautiful, blemished, bold or brassy…BE YOU.
How can you be the most unique version of you today?
“There is no one alive who is youer than you.” Dr. Suess
Peeling and revealing,

Beauty. Nature. Energy. Tonight was interesting. Went to a showing of the much hyped movie, The Secret. Have heard both good and not so good reviews and it has sparked many a discussion. Anyway, about 30 minutes into the film, the power goes out. Keep in mind, when I walked into the building just a mere half-hour prior, the sun was shining and the heat was stifling.
But as is the norm in the STL, wait 5 minutes and the weather will change. We all headed out the door to catch a glimpse of the story that was unfolding right before our eyes. The wind was whipping fast and furiously (some reports were 65 MPH), the temp had dropped from about 105 to somewhere in the low 80’s, and the sky…look out! The sky was all kinds of crazy mixed up grays and greens.
I LOVE thunderstorms. I was like a kid in a candy store. You couldn’t wipe the grin off my face. The feel of the COOL air whipping across my face was a lil’ slice of heaven. Never mind the fact that dust and debris was swirling all around and polluting my contacts, I was diggin’ it.
What came to me after a treacherous drive home, (honestly my car was swerving all the way into the next lane and I could hardly see thru the sheets of rain slamming onto my windshield), was the sheer power and BEAUTY of nature. How amazing is it, that Mother Nature knows what she needs best and doesn’t mind who gets pissed off in the midst of her temper tantrum!?
She knew that it’s been just too damn hot! She knew we needed some solace from the heat. So she stirred up the winds, and gave us her heart as she had a big ol’ cry. Now things have cooled off, and there isn’t that stagnant, heavy feeling in the air anymore.
I love that she is so in tune with both her yin and her yang. That she can be sunny one minute and be a big bawling baby the next. And feel no guilt. No remorse. No shame. Just lets it out when she needs to. Shifts from mood to mood authentically and organically.
So I choose Mother Nature as my mentor tonight. I want to accept my moods and many colors with as much grace and beauty as she displayed tonight. We’ll clean up the debris tomorrow. The airport roof that blew off will be old news by the 5pm telecast tomorrow. We’ll all forget this little flare up. We’ll forgive her mess and move on.
Thank you Mother Nature, for sharing your gifts. Your beauty. Your dark. And your light.
Who is your mentor today? And how can you model them?
Yours in sunshine & rain,
kk
ps...going to try and see the movie again next Wed...will surely post some thoughts then
***pps...wanted to add that I wrote this post the evening of the storm. BEFORE I witnessed the damage and destruction this storm caused our city. I in no way intended to show slight or disregard for the many thousands of people who went a week or longer without power in St. Louis. Thanks to Jason who pointed out that although I’m eternally optimistic, sometimes shit happens! Again, apologies if this was misconstrued in any way.
Andy Wibbels, was guest blogging over at ducttapemarketing.com…he wrote an interesting post that got me thinking. He asked how people felt about mixing personal and business blogs. Since my blog here at PMP, is a little of both, I stopped and pondered how you all really feel about getting to see the personal side of Kam, with a bit of coaching mixed in.
I felt inclined to stop in and leave a comment for Andy, as I value his insights and opinions. He’s pretty much the guru of blogging , so if he says it…it contains some merit. Check out his post and my comment.
Which then raises the question…do you like that I mix the two? Business and personal? Or would you rather see coaching tips, tricks and tried and true strategies? I’ve tried to overlap the two, but perhaps you’d like a little less conversation, a little more action (God, I LOVE Elvis!).
OK pals - let me know how you really feel. Feel free to share openly and don’t hold back!
Until next time,
Kam
Hello friends. Can’t believe I forgot to let you know that I was featured again on my new friend, JT Chandler’s website. He’s loaded his site with lots of great articles dealing with the Law of Attraction and features authors from all across the country.
If you have some free time and are looking to nosh on some tasty nuggets of wisdom from some of the leading experts in the field, check it out. I feel really honored that JT chose a couple of my articles to place on his site. I was even originally featured on the same page as one of my mentor’s, Dr. Drew Rozell. OK, that’s it and that’s all for now!
What are you waiting for?
Hop on over and take a peek for yourself!
Peace and easy reading,
Kam
Witnessed some amazing public speaking today. OK, so technically he’s a minister and was a guest speaker today at CSL, here in STL. I love watching really charismatic people speak. Charles was able to engage the entire room and get us on board for a ride that lasted about 20-30 minutes (actually, I have no idea how long he spoke, I was pretty mesmerized the entire time). Our topic today was “Identification Please”. More or less, “who ARE we”? Yes, as in “who am I really?” Underneath the clothes, the cars, the homes, the stuff. Who are we when we strip away the “stuff”?
One line that gave me goose bumps was when he stated that our only job in life is to, “Live in the bliss of revealing it”…referring to our unique gifts. Meaning living our passions and living on purpose. Are you with me? Let me clarify. According to Rev. Charles, (visiting from Agape in California), our purpose in this life is to uncover our own unique gifts and reveal those gifts to the world. SHARE them. Live AS them. GIVE them. BE them. Do you get me? When we give our gifts, we are living as spirit in motion. Tuned in and tapped into our divine source.
Perhaps you are saying, “How do I figure out what my own unique gift is?” It might not be uncovered over night. In fact, that’s not even the point. The journey of discovery might be half the dance for you. I can’t say, because my lessons and learning’s are different than yours.
The objective is to LIVE. To GIVE. Love and light. To wake UP. To stop WAITING. There is NO better time than today. We will never be better than we are right now. We are everything we need to be today. When we change our minds. And shift back into I AM, vs. I will be, the floodgates open.
It’s not, “When I get the guy, the house, the job, the body…I’ll be good enough, smart enough, rich enough, thin enough”. It’s I AM…insert your desire here. Watch. I AM beautiful. I AM loveable. I AM a contagious smile. I AM a multimillionaire. I AM a published author. I AM spirit in motion. I AM presently perfect. I AM joy and laughter.
When you state who you are and insert the words you desire…more joy, love, laughter, light, abundance, wealth, health, creativity, genius, you name it…flows into your life. NOT the other way around. It’s not, “when I find more joy, love, laughter, my life will be all I want it to be”. We have to BEcome who we want to be and then our lives will reflect back exactly that.
I won’t get into the details here, but believe me when I tell you, my life looks completely different than it did just one year ago. A very wise woman pointed out to me that until I became who I wanted to be, my life wouldn’t reflect the desired results. And she couldn’t have been more right.
SO ask yourself, “Who AM I? Better yet, why don’t you just tell the universe. All you have to do is declare it, and know that it already IS. I AM love. I AM open to receive all the abundance the universe has to offer me. I AM infectious laughter. I AM creative. I AM radiant. I AM healthy, wealthy and wise. I AM love and light. I AM truth and beauty. I AM divine. Who are you?
Be you. BE bold. Be bad-ass.
XO,
kam
Whew! Say that real fast three times. I dare ya. Double K has been burning the midnight oil and my body hit the skids. Just said, uh-uh. No thanks. Check please. We’re outta here.
I had the strep throat about 2 weeks ago. It went away for a couple of days and then the sore throat thing came back and fatigue hit like nobody’s business. Now for those who know me well, and for those that don’t, know this…Kammie don’t play that. I’m used to having a certain amount of energy. I’m used to having a certain upbeat demeanor and razzle-dazzle attitude. Ha-dee-freakin-Ha. It’s as if I were completely transported from my body and some lackluster, less fun, less flirtatious, less spontaneous, less lovely version of me stepped in.
Yep. Energy - zapped. Vim and vigor - buh-bye. Sassy comebacks – out the door. Creative juiciness – nada. So I had to face reality. My reality was shouting, “Take a freakin’ BREAK already!”
So I gave in. I finally got some sleep. I stepped away from the computer. And I needed some FUN back in the mix. So I did. Went to the art museum with lovely Linda. Sat by the pool with my hottie sister Karlee. Watched the So You Think You Can Dance revolution (I get so lit up just watching these people dance). Just checked out the Rock Star Supernova (I’m crushing on Toby right now). And I let my mind wander as I took some long and leisurely walks (I used to communicate with trees when I was a kid – when did I stop doing that?).
What’s all this got to do with anything? Duh. Sometimes we just gotta BE. Check out some artsy-dancing-rockin-eye catchin’, chill time. BE in nature. BE in art. BE in music. Be in energy. BE in a cocoon between the sheets. BE still. Be chill. Be a dancehall diva. BE safely dangerous. BE an introverted extrovert. BE simple. BE a spectacle. Step out of the DO box and into the BE circle. The flow circulates better in there.
What can you do to BE a more rejuvenated version of you?
It’s the 6th of July! What’s so great about the 6th of July? Let’s see…we’re alive, yes? We’re healthy, yes? Or maybe no? Or we’re choosing a new path? Or introspecting (I think I just made that up) an old one. We have the freedom to CHOOSE. Write a new story. Each and everyday.
Elvis Costello said, “Everyday I write the book”. Did you hear that? Everyday, we have the power to write it brand new. Still choosing to write the same old song and dance over and over? What are you getting out of standing still?
The cast of characters might look different. Maybe you work at a different place than you did a year ago. But find yourself saying, “This place is as crazy as the last!” Perhaps you’re dating a brand new beau or lady, but he/she seems just as psycho/needy/clingy/domineering/unaffectionate as the last one (or two or three).
Ask yourself how many times you’re willing to play out this scenario. Then ask yourself, what you’re willing to do to re-write it. What will you do tomorrow to write your story differently? Will you wake up earlier to have a little “you” time? Will you walk the dogs a little bit longer (I promise!)? Will you TELL the people you love that you love them instead of waiting for them to tell you? Will you ASK for the love, friendship, affection, wealth, and abundance you deserve?
Take yourself by the hand and cop a squat on the lawn of life. Look yourself in the eyes and ask YOU what you REALLY want. Then shut up. And LISTEN. Can you hear that? Can you hear the surround sound, boomin’ bass kickin’?Can you see the greatness that is your life in dazzling, Willy Wonka, techno-color detail?
What does it look like? What kind of clothes are you wearing? What kind of house do you live in? What does your mate look like? Sound like? Smell like? Do you have children? Are you single? Do you get up at 6 or 10? Do you live on a ranch or an island?
Dream BIG. Write it down. Say it out loud. Declare it! FEEL what it feels like to BE the new YOU. Take the baby steps necessary to move toward that vision. Ask yourself who you want to be in this life. Are you BEING it? If not - why not? What needs to change in order for that vision to come to fruition?
Need support? ASK for it? Need a coach? E-mail me! Need a shrink? Go and GET one. Need a raise? Put a proposal together and go and get it! Quit the blame game. Point that ol’ finger right back atcha. You’re the only one that’s gonna get the job done.
Only YOU can become who you’re truly meant to BE. Sorry kids. No white knight. No shining armor. No magic wand. No fairy godmother. You’ve got something better. A secret weapon you might have forgotten you even carried. The power of your MIND. The guidance of your intuition. The support of spirit. What are you waiting for? The time couldn’t be more ripe for you to let go of the vine.
Now get out there and LIVE! LOVE! LAUGH! PLAY! SING! DANCE!
What chapter are you writing today?
Livin’ large somewhere in the middle of chapter 33,
kk
As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been on vacation this past week and what a JOY it has been. Not because I flew off to some island paradise. Didn’t sip fruity drinks with little umbrellas in them. No cabana boys to rub lotion on my back (although that doesn’t sound bad!) No - I was yet again reminded that the magic happens each and every day. Right where you are. The moment you OPEN you eyes.
What magical moments have I observed recently? I got to watch my favorite lyrical gangster, Jason Mraz, under the Arch here in STL on Sat. in all his glory. I love watching live music, especially Jason’s. He just let’s the music take over and the energy flow though him. I love his connection with the audience and how he writes about the beauty of life and living and really BEING here in this crazy mixed up place.
There was a sliver of a moon hanging near the side of the Arch, and as the night went on, our planet rotated, and the moon danced around the skyline ending up on the other side of the Arch. It was hot and sticky and humid. Feeling sweat roll down my back as I swayed to the music just added to the vibe of the evening.
The fireworks after the show were awesome. I stopped to really soak them in. How many times have I seen this site before? How many times in the past did I NOT stop and say THANK YOU? Thank you for the fact that I live in a country where I can walk among my neighbors and freely CHOOSE where I will go and what I will do. All without fear of car bombs or police raids or vigilantes? This time I stopped and said thanks.
Then we went out dancing to some old school funk and 80’s cheesy flashback music. Everything just flowed. We didn’t have to deal with traffic on the way to the city. Each time we stepped up to the metro platform the train rolled right up to pick us up. The Universe supported our evening of fun in every way. I’m convinced it had something to do with the affirmative action I began earlier that day.
All day I kept saying, “Tonight is gonna be SO fun! It’s going to be awesome! We’re gonna have SUCH a good time”. I was designing the evening in advance and the Universe stepped up to support my every request. I envisioned no traffic issues and rock star parking and VIP treatment and that’s what we got. We even showed up 20 minutes before the show and walked right up and got front row for the concert. It was as if Jason were singing right to my friends and me! How cool is that?
More present moment observations…one morning as I walked the dogs, Trixie started freaking out near a rock. Upon closer inspection it wasn’t a rock, but a cute little turtle poking it’s head out to say good morning. Yesterday while lounging on the couch and looking out my back balcony, a squirrel jumped down onto the railing, placed himself above the little garden Buddha I have on a bench, laid down on his belly, let his feet dangle over the edges and just stared at me! How freakin’ funny was that? I mean he really just sat there and we stared at each other for a couple of minutes. It was as if time has stopped and he just wanted to come and chill with me for a minute.
These were amazing and precious gifts of being present that I wouldn’t have “gotten” had I not been more tuned in to the magic that happens from moment to moment. So I say, stop. Look around you. See what gifts await you in the present. Let’s focus less on the future. And stop hanging out in the past. It’s OVER…forgive it/he/she/them, release it, wish it well and let it go! BE where you are!
What observations are you making in your present moment?
xo,
kam
Ahh, summertime and the livin’ is easy! I am loving my vacation. I’ve let myself have some downtime, but have been working a little bit each day. When you tap into your passionate purpose in this world, it’s not like you can just turn it off. My mind kicks into creative mode and I gotta roll with it! So there has been much researching and writing and creative brainstorming…
But these days have also been filled with fun and work and rest and friends and family and goodness all around. I’ve gone to a Brazilian restaurant with a wise woman friend of mine. We danced to music in Portuguese (I couldn’t understand the words, but my body could FEEL the rhythm, the drums, the fire!). Played with Miss Alyssa at a garage sale and enjoyed the neighbors who came to shop as well as the gorgeous weather we were served up. Have been so blessed that I was offered 2 FREE massages/bodywork sessions from some fabulous healers I know, one included a facial with a vitamin C mask for nourishment after my bout with the Strep throat monster! And have had lots of time for dog therapy with the Chance and Trixter (God I love those crazy dogs).
What I am really looking forward to tonight is my boyfriend (OK, he doesn’t know he’s my b-friend yet) Jason Mraz is in town and playing under the Arch tonight. I love concerts under the Arch. The last 2 year STL has done a great job getting people to come downtown to the riverfront to mix, mingle and play – all with the mighty Mississippi as a backdrop. There’s something really soulful about that river too. I don’t know if it’s all the history around it, but it’s like hallowed ground, you can FEEL the spirits of people along the cobblestone streets and along the banks of the river. So the added vibe of the river brings a whole other element to my concert experience (remember, I am a Sacred Sensualist, so there’s always six-sensory stuff going on for me anywhere I go).
But back to Jason. Or Mr. A-Z. Or The Curbside Prophet. Or Mmmmrraaaaaaaazzz. Why do I wax poetic about his lyrical gangster-ness? Because he LOVES language. And remember, I’m obsessed with it. He loves playing with words and combining them in ways that sound new to our ears. He keeps it fresh yo! He mixes it up and gets funky with it and doesn’t stand for the status quo. He pushes himself to stretch and grow and evolve as a musician and a writer. And as a fellow writer, I gotta love that. So tonight, I shall put a little extra flair in the hair, sparkle in my eye and pep in my step, just incase my path crosses with that of a curbside prophet. With that, I’ll leave you with a little sample of his deliciousness…
The Remedy
words & music by jason mraz & the matrix
I saw fireworks from the freeway and behind closed eyes I cannot make them go away
Cause you were born on the fourth of July, freedom ring
now something on the surface it stings
that something on the surface it kind of makes me nervous who says that you deserve this
and what kind of god would serve this? We will cure this dirty old disease
if you’ve got the poison I’ve got the remedy
the remedy is the experience. It is a dangerous liaison
I say the comedy is that it’s serious. Which is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you’re gonna spend the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends because it all amounts to nothing in the end.
I won’t worry my life away.
I won’t worry my life away.
I heard two men talking on the radio in a cross fire kind of new reality show
Uncovering the ways to plan the next big attack
they were counting down the days to stab the brother in the be right back after this
the unavoidable kiss, where the minty fresh death breath is sure to outlast his catastrophe
dance with me, because if you’ve got the poison, I’ve got the remedy
the remedy is the experience.
When I fall in love I take my time
There’s no need to hurry when I’m making up my mind
You can turn off the sun but I’m still gonna shine and I’ll tell you why
Because
the remedy is the experience.
I won’t and I won’t and I won’t etc.
What delicious delights will you revel in today?
Peace and music for your soul,
Kam
