Passionate Theme of the Day: The Journey

“The 2007 Pursue the Passion tour is the WORLD’S most energetic and innovative movement that aims to inspire MILLIONS of people to follow their dreams. Three college grads will embark on a 14,000 mile journey to interview 200 of the most PASSIONATE people on the planet. They will expend EVERY ounce of energy and exhaust EVERY available financial resource to materialize their vision of a PASSIONATE work force.” The Pursue The Passion 15-second pitch

Here’s the story of how PTP met PMP...I received an e-mail from a 22 year-old recent college grad who dropped his corporate job to go pursue his passion. My kinda guy! Here’s the jist of the story:

Three recent college grads dreamed and expected (like most college grads do) to find jobs in industries where they would feel a passion for their work. The challenge? What the heck to do and where to go to find out? Good buddies Brett Farmiloe, James Whiting, and Noah Pollock followed all the instruction books. They studied, took their exams, walked across that stage and grabbed their diplomas…now what?

They decided to find out how people who were currently living their passion and pursuing their life purpose did it. They wanted to get first hand knowledge. Stuff they didn’t find in their textbooks or lecture halls. Things they could only learn from life on the road. So they packed up, hopped in a bus and headed out on a cross country tour to interview passionate people who are lit up and living lives full of purpose.

Which is how Brett came across lil’ old me…Ms. Passion Meets Purpose herself! I happily responded back to Brett and let him know I’d share the Pursue the Passion mission with my readers and fellow bloggers (oops…I mean conversation architects).

What exactly are these guys doing?

“On the first tour we documented the trip on the website. We interviewed over seventy-five inspiring leaders and enthused employees about their paths to a passionate career. We learned about what others were passionate about, and their infectious enthusiasm helped us identify our own passions.”

“We are now conducting a second tour where we explore the career paths of passionate professionals through interviewing them about their experiences. We hope that these interviews will not only provide us with an idea of what to do with our lives, but will assist the people who are just like us in determining where to begin their pursuit of a passion.”

Check out the Pursue the Passion website. You can sponser the crew of the tour (you can even buy them dinner on the road one night), submit your story about how you discovered your passion and purpose, sign-up for their newsletter, send this link to your list to help them with their goal of 1,000 subscribers (their only nearing 400 currently) or help spread the link-love on your own blog about these passionate guys, who at such a young age are bold enough to live life on purpose!

Check out their summer tour schedule if you’re curious to see the PTP’ers in person, or if you’d like to host them for dinner or let them crash at your place while they’re in your neck of the woods (hey they’re still college grads and a little start-up that could).

My hat’s off to these gregarious, young and brave gentleman. Way to pursue your passion and live life on purpose PTP’ers. You ROCK!

Peace & Passion,

Great write up.  I’ll tell you this, Brett has been an entreprenuerial spirit from the very beginning.  I’m proud to watch him take his path.  In fact, he has inspired even me. (Brett’s Dad)

Can’t wait. He emailed me and I accidentally deleted it, so I’m glad you posted this, Kammalicious.

Steve~

you should be very proud of your son...what amazing things to be doing at such an early age… Kudos to you for igniting a fire in his belly!

Kammie- I admire you for looking at life in such a dynamic way.  My son is James Whiting (Pursue the Passion).  He is such a creative and positive person and I know he will succeed in whatever he choses to do in life.  As a parent in the Baby-Boomer era, it’s hard for me to say “Do whatever makes you happy!”.  We were taught to work and make money and support your family.  Now in my 50’s, I find other Baby Boomers saying, “Why didn’t we do what we loved and were good at?”.  I applaude you...keep the good karma going!  Carol

Carol~

Thanks so much for your kind words!

I applaud YOU for raising a son that feels supported and nurtured enough to step outside of any comfort zone in order to create a life he loves and to encourage other young people to think about what kind of LIFE they want to live, not just what kind of JOB they want to do.

Pursue the Passion is exactly what college level students need to become more aware of...designing a life, not just a career path.

Congrats on inspiring your son to boldly leap without waiting for his net!
