Grammy Music: Aural Pleasure for the Soul

Passionate Theme of the Day: Music Soul Food

“Desperado, why don’t you come to your senses?
Come down from your fences, open the gate
It may be raining, but there’s a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you, before it’s too late” – The Eagles

Not sure about you, but I thought the performances at the Grammy’s last night were freakin’ fabulous! Gnarls Barkley nailed it with his uber cool version of Crazy. John Mayer waxed poetic about the laws of Gravity, Corinne Baily Rae sang like and angel was shining Like a Star, and John Legend cooed Coming Home in his mellow, smoove like butta voice, while his fingers danced across the keyboard, the three of them forming a unique and perfecta trifecta.

Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts took me back to my childhood days when the Eagles were a big hit around our house and shared their unique versions of Desperado, Hotel California and Life in the Fast Lane.

And I had to laugh at Christina Aguilera’s ballsy, down and dirty version of James Brown’s It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World! You go girl! She followed Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie and Chris Brown and showed them that, "This is a man’s, a man’s, a man’s world. But it wouldn’t be nothing, nothing without a woman or a girl”.

What was so cool about watching the show was that it was like being at a beautiful buffet of multi-cultural delights. I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride – up, down and all around and really just let myself feel the emotions, energy, wisdom and FUN that these entertainers served up for my aural pleasure.

If you haven’t taken a break and given your mind a rest lately, perhaps you should log online, sit back and take in the delicious treats that were served up at last nights Grammy’s. Of course it wouldn’t have been a party without my friend Justin Timberlake who’s already brought Sexy Back and jammed on his What Goes Around Comes Around.

Music feeds the soul and tugs at the soul strings in ways that words alone can not. It shakes us up. Allows us to open our senses. It taps us into our intuition and jars our memories. I admire this art form so much and it was fun to let my inner rock star admire the amazing talents and skills of today’s brightest stars. Did you dig into this virtual musical feast? If so what was your favorite performance? Who rocked your world?

If not…What music feeds your soul?

Grammy’s rocked! Are they creating a better show or is the talent better? A bit of both I think. Corinne is amazing. She will go far. The Chili Peppers did not deliver but The Police did.
Check out the new Damien Rice “9” CD and The Beatles “Love”. Both exceptional stuff.

Mr. Silly Man~
OMG...Corinne is SO the coolest, most beautiful little thing isn’t she? her voice could sooth even the most savage beast!

And I agree, Chili Peppers dissapointed (I think it was song selection)...and I’ll ALWAYS love the Poilce (sat 2nd row center for Sting once & since then...I’m hooked!)

Thanks for the lead on the new Damien Rice & Beatles..I’ll investigate for sure.

Be swell & thank for dropping by,
Kam

Corinne had the song “Like A Star” featured on Medium last night. They kept playing it over and over. Chili Peppers need to take a lesson from American Idol… song selection is everything. Even when you are huge.

Peace!
