Passionate Theme of the Day: Resiliency
“…we could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.”
Helen Keller“Problems are not stop signs, they’re guidelines.”
Robert Schuler.“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”
Helen Keller
As many of regulars of the PMP might know, I have hit a bit of a creative block. My posts have been sporadic lately. That still doesn’t sit very well with my inner over-achiever, but I don’t want to post for the sake of posting. That won’t sound authentic and you the reader will smell it like a funky fish outta water.
Thanks to my bloggy buds who’ve drop by to support me during my “lull”. I SO appreciate your words of encouragement and acceptance. That’s what I’m discovering. That this time has been more than anything else about self-acceptance. Self-love. About being OK, with just BEing and not DOing.
I ran a full court press last year and want to design 2007 differently. With that was the need for some serious downtime. Some space to PLAY. And some quiet to hear the music again. I’m tuning back in and amping up, just as spring will surely arrive sooner than later, so will the return of the Kam as I dig her most. But I am realizing I’ve got my seasons too. And this has been my season to be quiet. (I know…me right?).
Today I had the good fortune to watch my 2 year-old niece Alyssa. My sister needed Aunt Kam, so I happily accepted (I don’t teach classes on Friday’s, so I was available woo-hoo!). What I love most about hanging with Miss A, is that it’s like she is the teacher and I am the student. Everytime I’m with her I learn a new lesson.
How did we get so far away from owning our feelings, wants and desires? When A wants something, she asks for it. If she doesn’t get it immediately she throws a little hissy and then I tell her to cool out, she usually can get what she wants if she (eats her lunch first, goes potty or stops whining!).
When is it that WE stop asking for what we want? When is it that the FEAR kicks in and we stop asking for fear of not getting?
I also LOVE watching how freakin’ resilient she is! Seriously…she’s in bliss, running around with the puppy and then the dog cuts in front of her and WHAM…she bites the dust on the kitchen floor! The tears well up, she looks to me for my response, I say “You’re OK. You’re good baby.” And she laughs, jumps up and shouts, “I’m OK! I’m OK!” And starts back where she left off almost without missing a beat.
How cool is that? When did we forget to get back up? Worse, when do we stop chasing for fear of falling? When did we begin to worry more about scraped knees, bruised elbows or tattered jeans than actually chasing after our dreams?
I thank the Universe for my time with my little teacher today and will cherish the lessons learned. It’s like Confucius said, “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Confucius and Miss Alyss are on to something!
Get up to get down,

Hi Kam,
You are not alone in being out of sorts… I think that there is something in the air. Actually, there does seem to be something going on energetically that is affecting a lot of people. Then again… maybe is the end of winter blahs.
I like to think of my slow times as my cocooning times. I think I am finally emerging from my cocoon and feeling like a new me. I am sure you will too!

K~
I do think there’s been some wacky energy floating around! Maybe it’s the barometric pressure...that’s what my mom always said.
Anyway, I do feel it lifting and m trying to just enjoy and accept this “quet season”...then the spring rains will some and rejuvinate the dry, soil...mmmmI can’t wait!!
Thanks for stopping by
Stay passionate lady,
Kam
